Skin Health and Wellness Consultations, Gold Coast and Brisbane

AuzSkin provides medical consultations about skin health, including acne, rosacea, pigmentation and skin redness, alongside supportive treatments such as LED light therapy and individualised skincare.

Consultations are conducted by registered practitioners. What is appropriate for you, if anything, depends on your skin, your medical history and what you are trying to address. Results vary between individuals, and no outcome can be promised.

If you are dealing with a persistent skin concern, a consultation is the starting point. Your practitioner will ask what you have noticed, how long it has been going on, what you have already tried, and about your general health and medications.

Common reasons people book a skin health consultation include:

  • Acne that has not responded to over-the-counter products
  • Persistent facial redness
  • Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
  • Skin that has become reactive, dry or irritated
  • A skin concern that changes with stress, sleep or seasons
  • Wanting a considered skincare routine rather than a shelf of products

Depending on what is found, your practitioner may recommend topical treatment, an in-clinic treatment, further assessment, or referral to another practitioner. Some concerns are best managed by a dermatologist or your GP, and we will say so if that is the case.

What We Offer

Availability varies between our clinics. Please check with us when you book.

Individualised Skincare Plans

Skincare planning based on an assessment of your skin rather than a fixed product list. Depending on your assessment, your plan may include over-the-counter products and, where a practitioner considers it clinically appropriate, a prescribed treatment. Where a prescription is involved, an authorised practitioner must assess you in person and determine suitability. A consultation does not mean a prescription will follow, and we cannot discuss specific prescription products in our advertising.

Nutrient Assessment

Medical consultations to assess whether a nutritional deficiency is contributing to your skin or general health, and to manage any deficiency that is identified through appropriate testing. We do not provide nutrient therapy as a general wellness treatment, and we do not treat in the absence of a diagnosed deficiency. Vitamins and nutrients are not a treatment for skin conditions where no deficiency exists.

LED Light Therapy

Non-invasive light therapy used to support skin recovery and as an adjunct in the management of acne symptoms and skin redness. It is generally used alongside other measures rather than on its own, and a course of sessions is typical.

Skin Concerns Affected by Stress and Lifestyle

Some skin conditions are reported to fluctuate with stress, sleep and general health. Where that applies to you, your practitioner can discuss general lifestyle factors as part of your overall care. This is supportive advice within a broader plan. Conditions such as eczema and psoriasis are medical conditions requiring proper diagnosis and management, and lifestyle guidance is not a treatment for them. Where your condition needs specialist management, we will tell you and arrange a referral.

Skin Hydration Treatments

Micro-injections of hyaluronic acid designed to support skin hydration and quality. Suitability is assessed by a registered practitioner and consent is obtained before treatment. Full details are on our skin rejuvenation page.

Is This Suitable for You?

Your practitioner will assess factors including:

  • Your medical history, current medications and any allergies
  • What you have already tried and how your skin responded
  • Whether your concern needs diagnosis before any treatment is considered
  • Whether a referral to a GP, dermatologist or other practitioner is the more appropriate step
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding, which affects what can be used

Some people are told that what we offer is not the right approach for them. That is a normal outcome of a consultation.

No treatment is risk free and outcomes vary between individuals.

Depending on what is recommended, risks and normal effects may include:

  • Skin irritation, dryness, redness or peeling, particularly when starting an active topical treatment
  • Initial worsening of acne before improvement, which can occur with some treatments
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight with some topical ingredients, which matters in Queensland
  • Eye sensitivity during light therapy, which is why protective eyewear is used
  • Allergic or irritant reaction to a product or ingredient
  • With any injectable treatment, bruising, swelling, tenderness, lumps or, uncommonly, infection

Your practitioner will explain the risks relevant to anything recommended for you, and what to do if you have a concern afterwards.

What Happens at Your Consultation

01.

Discussion

We ask what you have noticed, how long it has been going on, what you have tried, and about your medical history, medications and allergies.

02.

Assessment

Your practitioner examines your skin and considers whether the concern needs diagnosis, treatment, further investigation or referral.

03.

Plan, risks and cost

If something is appropriate, we explain what it involves, what the risks are, how long it may take to see change, what it will cost, and what a realistic outcome would be. If a different practitioner is better placed to help, we say so.

04.

Review

Skin conditions often need adjustment over time. Where relevant, a review appointment is arranged so the plan can be changed based on how your skin has responded.

Why Patients Choose AuzSkin for Skin Health

01.

Assessment before treatment

Nothing is recommended without a consultation and a clinical assessment by a registered practitioner.

02.

Diagnosis before management

A persistent skin concern is assessed rather than assumed. Where a condition needs formal diagnosis or specialist care, we say so.

03.

Honest about scope

We will tell you when a concern sits outside what we can appropriately manage, and arrange a referral.

04.

Plans that are reviewed

Skin conditions change. Where relevant, we review and adjust rather than issuing a plan and leaving it.

05.

Part of a medical skin clinic

Your skin health consultation sits alongside our skin cancer service. A practitioner assessing your skin can also raise anything they notice that should be looked at properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a skin health consultation?

A medical consultation in which a registered practitioner assesses a skin concern, discusses your history and what you have already tried, and explains what management options may be appropriate. It may result in a treatment plan, further assessment, or a referral.

We provide consultations for acne and can discuss management options. What is appropriate depends on the type and severity of your acne. Some presentations are better managed by a dermatologist, and we will tell you if that applies.

These are medical conditions requiring proper diagnosis and management. We can discuss general skin care and lifestyle factors as part of overall support, but they are not managed by skincare or lifestyle advice alone. Where specialist management is needed, we will arrange a referral.

It is a non-invasive light treatment used to support skin recovery and as an adjunct in managing acne symptoms and skin redness. It is generally used alongside other measures rather than on its own, and a course of sessions is typical.

We offer skin health consultations. Where a practitioner assesses that a prescribed treatment is clinically appropriate for you, that can be discussed at your appointment. Australian advertising rules prevent us from naming or promoting prescription products on our website.

We provide medical consultations to assess and manage diagnosed nutritional deficiencies. We do not offer nutrient therapy as a general wellness treatment or in the absence of a diagnosed deficiency.
