Body Contouring

Non-Surgical Body Contouring, Gold Coast and Brisbane

AuzSkin offers non-surgical body treatments addressing concerns such as localised fat deposits, underarm sweating, unwanted body hair, leg veins and skin quality on the body.

These are contouring and skin treatments. They are not weight loss treatments, and they are not a substitute for one. What is appropriate for you, if anything, is determined at a consultation with a registered practitioner. Results vary between individuals, and no outcome can be promised.

What Body Contouring Is, and What It Is Not

Non-surgical body contouring describes treatments that target a specific area rather than overall body weight. They are generally considered for localised areas that have not responded to diet and exercise, in people who are already close to a stable weight. They will not cause weight loss. They will not replace changes to diet, activity or general health. If your goal is weight loss, a body contouring treatment is unlikely to be the right starting point, and your practitioner will tell you so. Being told that a treatment is not appropriate for you is a normal outcome of a consultation.

Treatments We Offer

Availability of specific devices varies between our clinics. If you are interested in a particular treatment, please check with us when you book.

MiraDry Sweat and Odour Management

A non-surgical treatment that uses thermal energy directed at underarm sweat glands, designed to reduce underarm sweat and odour. A consultation is required to discuss whether it is suitable for you, what the procedure involves, and what recovery looks like.

Cooltech Fat Freezing

Cryolipolysis uses controlled cooling to affect fat cells beneath the skin in areas such as the abdomen, flanks and thighs. More than one session may be required, with changes developing gradually over weeks to months. Results vary between individuals.

BBL Forever Body

Broadband light therapy applied to the body rather than the face, designed to address skin quality, texture and tone. For facial broadband light treatment, see our skin rejuvenation page.

BBL Forever Bare Hair Reduction

Light based treatment designed for long term hair reduction on larger body areas. Multiple sessions are typically required, and response varies depending on hair colour, hair thickness and skin type.

Clear V Vascular Laser

Laser treatment designed to target visible vessels and vascular concerns on the legs and body, by delivering energy to the affected vessels. Suitability depends on the type and depth of the vessels involved, which is assessed at consultation.

Is This Suitable for You?

Not everyone is a suitable candidate for these treatments. Your practitioner will assess factors including:

  • Your general health, medical history and current medications
  • Whether your weight has been reasonably stable
  • The specific area you want addressed, and whether it is the kind of area these treatments are designed for
  • Your skin type and how it typically responds to light based treatment, which is relevant for BBL and vascular laser
  • Any history of hernia in or near a proposed cryolipolysis treatment area
  • Cold sensitivity conditions, which are relevant to cryolipolysis
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Whether there is anything in the treatment area that should be assessed before any cosmetic treatment goes ahead

All of these treatments carry risk. No treatment is risk free and outcomes vary between individuals.

Depending on the treatment, risks and normal after-effects may include:

  • Redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or firmness in the treated area
  • Temporary numbness, tingling or altered sensation, which may last some weeks after cryolipolysis or sweat gland treatment
  • Cramping, aching or itching in the days following cryolipolysis
  • Blistering, crusting or burns with light and laser based treatments
  • Changes in skin pigmentation, either lighter or darker than surrounding skin, which may be temporary or in some cases longer lasting
  • Uneven or asymmetrical results
  • Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, an uncommon complication of cryolipolysis in which the treated area enlarges rather than reduces. This does not resolve on its own and correction generally requires surgery
  • Paradoxical hair growth, an uncommon response to light based hair reduction
  • Infection

Risk of pigmentation change is higher in people with naturally deeper skin tones and in anyone who has had recent sun exposure. This is one of the reasons a practitioner assessment is required before any light or laser based treatment.

Your practitioner will explain the specific risks relevant to any treatment discussed with you, what recovery typically involves, and what to do if you have a concern afterwards.

What Happens at Your Consultation

01.

Discussion

We ask what you have noticed, what you are hoping to change, and about your medical history, medications and any previous treatments.

02.

Assessment

Your practitioner assesses the area of concern and determines whether any of the treatments we offer are clinically suitable for you.

03.

Options, risks and recovery

If something is suitable, we explain what it involves, what the risks are, how many sessions may be needed, what recovery looks like, what it will cost, and what a realistic outcome would be. If nothing we offer is suitable, we say so.

04.

Time to decide

You are not asked to commit during the consultation. If you decide to proceed, consent is obtained separately before treatment.

Why Patients Choose AuzSkin for Body Contouring

01.

Assessment before treatment

Nothing is recommended without a consultation and a clinical assessment by a registered practitioner.

02.

Doctor led protocols

Treatment protocols are developed and overseen by registered medical practitioners.

03.

ARTG listed devices

The devices we use are included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods and are used in line with manufacturer guidance and relevant clinical standards.

04.

Non-surgical approach

These treatments do not involve surgery or general anaesthetic. That does not mean they are risk free, and the risks relevant to you are explained before you decide.

05.

Realistic expectations

We explain what a treatment can and cannot do, including where a treatment is unlikely to achieve what you are hoping for.

06.

A medical clinic, not a beauty salon

AuzSkin is a medical skin clinic. A practitioner assessing your skin can also raise anything they notice that should be looked at properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is body contouring a weight loss treatment?

No. These treatments target specific areas rather than overall body weight, and they will not cause weight loss. They are generally considered for localised areas in people whose weight is already reasonably stable.

Cryolipolysis applies controlled cooling to a specific area, designed to affect fat cells beneath the skin. Any change develops gradually over weeks to months rather than immediately, and more than one session may be required.

We do not describe any of these treatments as permanent. Results vary between individuals, and future weight change can affect the appearance of a treated area. Your practitioner will explain what is realistic for you.

This varies by treatment, by area and by individual. Expected session numbers and total cost are discussed at your consultation before you decide anything.

No. It is designed to reduce underarm sweat and odour, not to eliminate sweating. Suitability, expected outcome and recovery are discussed at consultation.

It is described as long term hair reduction rather than permanent removal. Response varies depending on hair colour, hair thickness and skin type, and multiple sessions are typically required.

Consultations are available at our Hope Island and Surfers Paradise clinics, and at our Brisbane and Logan clinics. Device availability varies by location, so please check when booking.

Cosmetic body contouring treatments are generally not eligible for a Medicare rebate. Costs are discussed with you at your consultation before you decide anything.
